Jamphel Ngawang Lobsang Yeshe Tenzin Gyatso (born 6th July 1935 in Tibet), is the fourteenth and current Dalai Lama.  He is a practicing member of the Gelug School of Tibetan Buddihsm and is influential as a Nobel Peace Prize laureate, as the world’s most famous Buddhist monk, and as exiled leader of theTibeta government in Dharamsala, India.

2.) Evaluate how the actions of the Dalai Lama in regard to the riots in Tibet would be regarded as exemplary moral integrity.

The moral integrity of the Dalai Lama is authentic. He is celebrated around the world for his kindness. In the riots in Tibet he was asked if he held any hatred against the Chinese. When asked that question he jumped out of his seat and said The Chinese have done horrible things to us; they continue to do these things even now. But I still hold no hatred in my heart for them.”

Upload the answers to the following questions in your blog.

1.) Define the term ‘moral integrity’
Moral integrity is a complex and subtle ethical notion. As theologian Stanley Hauerwas has argued, it is central to all the other virtues but more fundamental than any single virtue. The root of the term integrity is wholeness. Moral wholeness rather than rigidity best captures the idea of moral integrity. For example, a person might discover that some long-held ethical belief, attitude or rule of conduct was mistaken because the person came to see that it was incompatible with other, more fundamental ethical commitments.

2.) Describe why Maximillian Kolbe is regarded as a Christian of exemplary moral integrity.

Because he gave his own life to a man, who he wasn’t even related to just to save his life, for he had a wife and children.
3.) Outline Maximillians ethical actions/principles that he demonstrated in Auschwitz.
Maximillians ethical actions that he demonstrated in the Auschwitz include, he heard confessions of people and smuggled bread and wine to his fellow prisoners. One of the most important actions he did was when he sacrificed his life to save another man who was also a prisoner.

4.) Evaluate whether you think he made the right decision and provide research to support your answer. i.e. Catholic teachings.

I believe he did make the right decision by giving his life up for that man because that man had a wife and children.

1.) Watch the following clip:

Scenario 1: You are on a train coming home from a day at the beach. The train stops at a station and a group a youths get on the train and start bashing an elderly ethnic man. You notice people getting off the train.
Discuss what you would do in this situation.

In this situation, I would firstly call the police and tell them what happened. Then I would go up to the man and see if he is conscience. Having learnt a bit about first aid I would apply what I know to him unless there is somebody else there who is older and more experienced at first aid. I would continue this practise until proper help arrives.

Scenario 2: You get a message from a girl that you are interested in asking you to come over her house. When you get there a number of her friends are present and they say they are bored. One of them promotes the idea of going for a walk and causing a riot. At first you tell them “No way”. However, the girl you like states that “she will like you more if you go”.

Discuss what you would do in this situation.

In this scenario, I would firstly try and talk the girls out of causing such trouble. If they still want to go on with their idea I would tell the girl that I wont be part of it and let adults know of what they were thinking of doing.

Describe how a persons conscience works in making moral decisions. Explain the relationship between religion and conscience.
A person’s conscience works in making moral decisions by taking in what is happening or what the situation is and making your choice on how you will deal with it. There is a very strong relationship between religion and conscience. Because of your religion, you will most likely make decisions according to your religion. for example, somebody hits you, you would want to hit them back but because your religion doesn’t want you to youthink twice about it.
