4.) Discuss how you would feel if the Australian government banned the Internet. What privileges would you lose? (2 Paragraphs)

If the Australian government banned the Internet I would feel very upset abd frustrated. There are many privaledges that I would lose such as, speeking to friends on msn messenger rather than calling them and wasting money. I would also lose a great resource in which you can find information for school work and general information.

I would also be dissapointed because then we cannot watch and see the scores of sporting matched that I missed. Also, if i am bored I cant play and online games because the internet would be banned.

Journal entry 6

1.) Define the term “Moral Maturity”

Moral Maturity is marked by depth and consistency of moral judgement; by recognition that any moral judgement may be fallible.  Moral maturity is a requirement in the person who is to apply a body of knowledge or a skill to the solution of a problem.

2.) Read the following article:http://www.smh.com.au/news/national/knife-arrest-cop-pelted/2008/03/24/1206206967590.html

Discuss the reasons why the 25 year old man mentioned in the article would be regarded as having a lack of ‘moral maturity’.
Because firstly he did something wrong in damaging a vehicle, and then when it came to his consequences he would not accept them.

3.) Identify the differences between ‘morality’ and ‘immorality’.

Morality refers to the concept of human ethics which pertains to matters of right and wrong — also referred to as “good and evil” — used within three contexts: individual conscience; systems of principles and judgments — sometimes called moral values –shared within a cultural, religious, where as immorality is the quality of not being in accord with standards of right or good conduct.

4.) Watch the following clip and describe the reasons why Governor Spitzer’s actions would be regarded as ‘immoral’.

http://au.video.yahoo.com/video/play?ei=UTF-8&vid=2183884

Govenor Spitzers behaviour would be regarded as immoral because he was an American Politician who many people may look up to because he was supposedly a great family man. His behaviour woukld also be regarded as inmmoral beacause he has 3 children of his own. That would make him a very bad influence.

DPS 8 “The Rabbits” “We lost the fights”

Interactive:

The Rabbits are offering the viewers to look over the destruction they have caused. The sentence “we lost the fights” tells the viewersof how the Aboriginals fought with the White men but lost the fights. Most of them were massacres where the White men killed many Aboriginals in certain areas. The demand in this page are the four possums that are chained up near the rabbit. The offer in this page are the two rabbits. One is blowing a horn in the top right corner of the page, and the other one is holding a gun in the bottom left corner of the page.

DPS 8 “The Rabbits” “We lost the fights”

Compositional: The arrangement of the text in these pages is very simple, yet effective. The sentence “we lost the fights” is the only sentence within this DPS. This text is located down in the far right hand corner of the page. In this DPS the most salient image is the picture in the lower left hand corner of the page. In this picture we see a rabbit holding a gun with four chained up possums.

“The Rabbits” DPS 8 “We lost the fights.”

Representational:

There arent many participants in this image. However there is a huge connection between them. The Rabbits in this book and in these two pages do not look cuddly and friendly, but the complete opposite. They have sharp firm ears, and they are wearing suits. The black background symbolises the colour of death and with the flags on the top of the page it symbolises triumph. There is also a Rabbit blowing a trumpet showing victory. It is very likely that the Rabbits symbolise White men who came into Australia, destroyed nature, took over the land and kept breeding so that there were many of them. In the bottom left corner of the page, there is an image showing what I believe is one of the “Rabbits” kind (White man) holding four possums which I believe is symbolising the Aboriginal people who were captured by the White men and could have been part of the Stolen generation. In this picture there is a big graveyard where there is a remnants of dead possums. Some visual techniques that help put across the meaning are reading path which is the path the viewer takes when they gaze around the visual art and vector which are lines drawn around a picture to represent what draws our eyes.

19 READING & UNDERSTANDING The Rabbits

A great story of colonization , told from the viewpoint of native animals. This picture book talks about the consequences of the arrival of a group of rabbits with entirely different ways. They bring new food and animals, and they make their own houses to live in, eventually dominating the environment and its other inhabitants. In this book there are many different colours representing different things. For instance on DPS 8 the colour black is representing death amongst the Aboriginal people when the Rabbits(White men) came in and took over all the land, killing many inhabitants. Some visual techniques that help put across the meaning are reading path which is the path the viewer takes when they gaze around the visual art and vector which are lines drawn around a picture to represent what draws our eyes.
